Finecast wins Broadcasts best places to work in tv in 2022 cover

Harry Harcus, UK MD

At Finecast, our mission is to improve the future of TV for everyone by pushing the boundaries of addressable TV. We couldn’t do this without having the right culture in place and putting our people first.

That is why I am absolutely delighted that Finecast is one of the companies named as the Broadcast Best Places to Work in TV for 2022.

We strive to be one of the best employers in the industry and being recognised as such by Best Companies Group (BCG) and Broadcast is a great honour.

The fact the award is based on survey feedback given by our own employees gives me even greater satisfaction as it shows the policies and processes put in place have had a positive effect on our people.

Here are just a few of the things Finecast is doing to make it a great place to work…

Training and development

At Finecast, we understand investing in our staff is investing in the future. Not only of the company but of the individuals that make up our award-winning team. It is why we make training and development a cornerstone of what we do.

We have a comprehensive framework that begins with our Performance Management Cycle. This involves Goal Setting, Quarterly Check-in’s and Year-End Reviews. Combined with 360-feedback, our competency frameworks and regular career conversations, we make sure we are paying attention to our employees and developing their talents.

Most training is delivered by our in-house learning and development team, GroupM University. Pre-pandemic, this involved in-person lessons, seminars and events – all of which were a no-go during lockdown. The GroupM University team immediately sprang into action to translate modules into virtual workshops. As well as GroupM University, we also employ third parties when we identify areas we want to focus on or upskill.

We also understand the power of fresh ideas and diverse backgrounds at Finecast. As a GroupM company, we participate in the GroupM apprenticeship programme to offer the next generation of entry-level professionals a route into the industry.

Flexible working

We believe work is something you do, not just a place you go. That’s why we launched our Flexible Working Policy in 2019. Having this policy meant we were well positioned to transition our people and business when Covid-19 guidelines meant we had to work from home, and now in a hybrid of office/home based working.

Rewards and celebrating success

What is the point of being successful if you can’t celebrate! We celebrate every success, no matter how big or small. This is primarily via a monthly awards scheme where staff nominate colleagues for great pieces of work, innovation, or collaboration.

And our RewardMe and Prestige Award recognition programmes see winners each month awarded with a £50 voucher from Huggg rewards. We also have a Finecast Values fund. This allows employees to take up a passion away from work which reflects Finecast’s core values.

Other key perks include the Finecast charity fund, gym memberships, cycle to work scheme, childcare vouchers, plus additional days off for Christmas closure, birthdays and work anniversaries.
